You Will Never Make A Hairdresser
Director: Vania Tong Starring: North Wales Womens Centre Members 90 mins
A play derived from the Novel 'You'll never make a hairdresser' Russell Paul is an autobiography detailing the life of a young boy living on a deprived housing estate in Manchester and tracing his progression to the present day and the realisation of his dreams.
Local author and hairdresser Russell Hughes of Russell Paul Hairdressing has teamed up with the Rhyl based North Wales Women’s Centre and Prestatyn Scala Cinema and Arts Centre to promote the release of his paperback book “You’ll Never Make a Hairdresser”
This two-act play has been written by members of the Creative Writing group at the Women’s Centre and will be performed by members of the Centre. This will be a first for everyone involved. The Centre’s writing group have formed ‘The Purple Chair Company’ to produce and perform the play, which in turn has involved the many skills of the Centre’s ladies. The Centre’s choir are lending their voices to the songs and will be also be making their debut. The Purple Chair Company has been lucky enough to enlist the expertise of a few professionals who will bring further sparkle to the performances. The Centre hopes to provide the additional service of interpretation by signing on one of the evenings to bring this production to an even wider audience.
The show promises to provide great entertainment but will also touch on deeper issues
It does contain strong language and adult humour.
